Shooting Sports Weekend
We are currently in the planning stages for the Shooting Sports Weekend April 30-May 2 at Ten Mile River Scout Reservation. There is an initial non-refundable deposit of $10 that we must submit before march 1st along with everyone's tee-shirt size and shooting preferences. We need to receive your $10 at our next Troop meeting February 19th in order to get the money in on time. Please remember to bring it with you if you would like to go.

Troop 510 Important Upcoming Events
1. The deadline for the Summer Camp early bird discount of $30 is fast approaching. The full fee must be paid by May 22nd which is two weeks from tonight.
2. Scouts need to sign up now for the Memorial Day Parade on May 25th. Marching in the parade will earn the Scout an additional $20 off the cost of summer camp. Sign up by May 15th.
3. Saturday May 23rd of Memorial Day weekend the Troop will be decorating the Veteran’s Graves at Holy Cross Cemetery. We ask all of our Scouts to participate.
4. There is a unique service project being conducted at Floyd Bennett Field on Saturday June 6th, the day before our Purple Elephant Sale. Each participant will earn a unique CSP and will be doing a tremendous service for our community. Scouts need to sign up now. Deadline to sign up is May 15th.
5. Finally, Sunday June 7th is our Purple Elephant sale. This fundraiser is a great opportunity for your son to earn credit in his Troop Account that can be used as needed for Troop expenses such as camping trips. We hope all will take part.

Christmas Wreath Sale
The troop is selling Christmas wreaths in front of Mary Queen Of Heaven Church this Saturday and Sunday December 6th and 7th. It is asked that you make two of the masses which are... Saturday 12/6 5:00pm, Sunday 12/7 8:00am, 10:00am, and 12:00pm. This counts as service credit.

There is no meeting tonight (11/21/08), because of a camping trip. All scouts that aren't going on the camping trip this weekend should be at the cub scout thanksgiving food drive. For location information please check your email.

Sports Shooting Weekend
Plans for the Sports Shooting Weekend May 1-3, 2009 at Ten Mile River are being finalized. The Troop has reserved Hearst A in the Headquarters area as our home for the weekend. The cabin sleeps 20 and we anticipate filling it to capacity. More details will be posted as they are finalized.
Indian Seminar and Pow Wow
Troop 510 will be attending the the 8th Shu Shu Gah Lodge Indian Seminar and Pow Wow held November 21-23, 2008 at Camp Alpine. The Troop will be staying in High Rock 7 which is located about ten minutes away from the Dining Hall where we will eat all our meals and where the Pow Wow will take place Saturday night. Training sessions will be held at Reeves Lodge. Saturday will also see Shu Shu Gah hold it's annual Trade-O-Ree in the Gary Laermer Activity Center (Orbach Arena). Here you can find all kinds of Scouting memorabilia from throughout Scouting's hundred year history. There will be a patch auction and you can cheer on our Senior Patrol Leader Dennis as he tries to win some rare collectibles. Our Scoutmaster will have his hands tied behind his back during the auction to keep him from spending any more of his money on patches. The cost for the weekend is $35 and the money is due at our next meeting.

Today I have made a lot of updates to the web site. You can now view pictures from previous troop activities! To view the gallery click the gallery link on the navigation bar to the left. At the moment the only gallery is Gettysburg, but more will be added soon! The Troop schedule has also been updated for the months of October and November. There is also a new option to print the schedule on a more printer friendly page. The latest troop scoop has been added to the downloads list. You can also find a counter of how many days, hours, minutes, and seconds are left untill the 2010 National Jamboree. Enjoy!

Parent Award's Night
Tonight, Friday September 26th, is the Parent's award's night. Tonight any merit badges and awards earned will be given out if they have not yet. The meeting starts normal time, FULL uniform.

Pack inspection for summer camp
Friday August 8th, is the pack inspection for all scouts going to summer camp. Remember to pack well, but do not over pack. As for the site an it's updates, the visible ones aren't much. I plan to redo the site design and make a better user friendly interface.
